To drive the ball longer and straighter off the tee, you must swing on an inside-out path. If you contact the ball from an outside path, you’ll cut across the ball, creating less than solid contact. The drill below will help you outdistance your buddies.
Inside Path Drill
Tee up a ball as you normally would. Sole your clubhead at address. Then place a tee in front of the clubhead at its hosel an inch or two between the clubhead and the ball. Practice hitting shots by contacting the hosel tee before hitting the ball.
To do this drill correctly, you must swing from inside the target line. This forces you to hit the inside of the ball. Before you know it, you’ll be bombing them long and straight, out-distancing your buddies.
