Golf Tips To Pump Power Into Your Golf Swing

Eventually, you’ll come to a hole where you need to power one off the tee. Maybe you need to carry a hazard or you need to carry a bunker. Or, maybe you just need to reach a bend in a dogleg. Whatever the reason, you need extra yards from your golf swing.

But when you try swinging harder, you hit it short. Or, you otherwise mis-hit the shot. Don’t be too upset. This happens a lot to weekend golfers. When you try swinging harder, you tighten your shoulder muscles. Tight muscles are slow muscles. They rob you of clubhead speed and power.

Below are three golf swing keys to powering your drives:

1. Relax your arms at address
2. Start the club back low and slow
3. Complete your backswing

Relaxing your arms—and keeping them relaxed—does two things. It encourages you to start your swing from the ground up. When you start your swing from the ground up, you need to lead with your front foot followed by your knee, thigh, and hip in that order. This is a good way to start your golf swing.

Relaxing your arms also quiets your shoulders. When you keep your shoulders quiet, you tend to swing from the inside. This in turn promotes a stronger angle of attack. It also in-creases clubhead speed for added power.

Starting back low and slow encourages a wider swing arc. This in turn gives you more time to increase clubhead speed. It also pumps more power into your swing.

Completing your backswing prevents you from releasing the club too early instead of re-lease it through impact. When you release the club fully through impact, you pump more power into your swing. More power, more yards.

Remember these three keys whenever you need extra yards off the tee. Primarily feel-oriented and non-mechanical, these three keys work even when you’re under pressure, pumping up your golf swing to produce the extra yards you need.
