deceleration in golf swing

Keep Swing In Sync

To swing the club properly, you must use the parts of your body that can move freely—your legs and arms. But they must work in sync for you to achieve consistency you’re your legs outrace your arms, trouble won’t be far behind. Below is a drill that helps with achieving consistency. All you need is your imagination.

Take your stance. Now imagine a piece of rope tied from your front knee to your left hand (right hand if your-left-handed.)  As you take the club back with your hands and arms, think of the rope as pulling your left knee back and inward. Then, as the forward swing starts with the lower body, your front foot, knee, and thigh moving toward the target—think of your knee pulling your left arm down. Finish your swing.

The rope image drill teaches you to keep your legs from outracing your arms, boosting swing consistency.
