Anti-Power Lower Drill

Keeping your back elbow too close to your body short-circuits power. That’s because it cause you to lose width in your swing and tense up your muscles. You can’t swing freely when your muscles are tense.

This drill from Jim Mclean restores power to your swing:

Take your setup for your drives. Now put a head cover under you right armpit. This locks in the upper-right arm. Take your backswing. Let your right elbow move away from your body without “flying.” If you make the right move, the head cover falls out. If you tense up, the head stays in place.

Vijay Singh uses this drill to increase his backswing width. If it works for him, it can work for you. Use it to restore power to your swing.
